It’s all about ideas at the Wellington Home & Garden Show 2026. A wonderful range of exhibitors, latest trends, innovations and exclusive show specials, it’s the place to be for inspiration for indoors and out.

I will showcase my indoor/outdoor ceramic sculptures, whimsical birds and Amazing Amazons. As well as these, I will have large bowls, great for the garden and a range of functional wheel-thrown ware for sale.

The history behind the Wellington Arts Group

In 1999, 30 Wellington artists formed a group (Wellington Artists Group or WAG) with the sole aim of establishing a public downtown gallery that would

• accommodate large exhibitions
• be central and accessible to the public
• be affordable for artists of Wellington (and New Zealand) to show and sell their work.

WAG found a very willing co-hose in the newly restored St James Theatre, with its spacious elegant upstairs foyer, and so began the unique visual and performing arts partnership – adding a new and shining dimension to the Wellington art scene.

The St James Gallery Trust, as it was later renamed, achieved a continuous timetable of high quality art exhibitions – local, regional, nations and international – including Australian, Japanese, German and Chinese (with the trust in an advisory and vetting role regarding the standard of any exhibitors). Exhibitions included the works of artists, photographers, and master craftspeople including ceramacists, silversmiths and glassworkers.

This rewarding relationship with the St James – the board, the staff, theatre audiences and performers, continued for 18 years until the theatre closed for seismic work. The Trust was dissolved in 2026.

Te Matatiki Toi Ora The Arts Centre presents its 7th annual Sculpture Festival, featuring object art, contemporary jewellery, and outdoor sculpture by some of Aotearoa’s most exciting artists.

More than 70 recognised and promising newer artists from across the motu will present over 300 works, from intricate jewellery to sculptures that really make a statement. Encounter a range of materials and styles.

I am submitting a group of 3 Penguins, but they haven’t been fired yet!
