A January update

Hi everybody

I hope you’ve all had a good New Year’s break with family and friends, with a less fraught 2022.

Just a bit of news about my pottery activities over the next couple of months.

To start with, as the annual Festival of Pots and Garden Art at Anam Car, Otaki has been cancelled, the Otaki Pottery Club is running a summer school with 1- and 2-day workshops. A great opportunity for potters and beginners to upskill.

I’ll be tutoring a day on hand building vessels on Monday. There are still a few spaces available in some of the courses. If you’re quick you can still enrol.

Beth Strickland | Art Aimée McLeod | Pottery

 Opening Night Thurs 3 Feb 6.30pm – 8.30pm

Image attached- I was unable to put it in the text!

This exhibition in a lovely cottage gallery in Eastbourne will feature paintings and other art by Beth and ceramics by me. I hope to show some old and some new work.  The pots are made, but they need to be fired. This is dependent on finding and getting new regulators installed on my gas bottles. It’s been quite a saga!

Beth will give a talk on abstract art (possibly on the 19th February- to be confirmed) and we will have a “meet the artists” day on the 5th March.

Open Studio Weekends

With so many events cancelled, and I do have a lot of stock, I will have 2 open weekends

29-30 January and 26-27 February

11am- 5pm

35 Huntleigh park Way, Ngaio

I won’t be checking vaccination passes, but please scan in, be upfront about your status, and wear a mask if not vaccinated, to protect others.  Hand sanitiser available.

Martinborough Fair:

https://martinboroughfair.org.nz

The February fair has been cancelled/postponed.

The March one will go ahead, and one in April, however with a few changes- they will now be held on a Sunday, and instead of being in Martinborough village, they will be held at Tauherenikau Tauherenikau Racing Club

Please note: Vaccination passes will be required.

All attendees are to observe 1-metre distancing
Masks will be mandatory for all (unless exempt)

Sunday 6th March

Sunday 3rd April,

The Newtown Festival, that I usually attend, has been cancelled. Another victim of covid.

SWIS- South Wellington Intermediate School Art Show

A picture containing diagram

Description automatically generatedI will be taking part in this art show, that was postponed last year. The new date is now March 11-13, and they will host the gala evening on Friday March 11th.

Lastly, in April, a group of Ohariu artists are having a combined exhibition at the new gallery in Parliament.  This is very exciting. The gallery will be open to the public. Details are still to be worked out, (and I’ll try and update my website before then!!) but it will open on the 6th of April and be open to the public.

That’s all for now, folks!
